Generic Products Today: Nothing Like They Used To Be
When shopping for consumer goods in the market today, generic brands have really steped up the quality level on their products in order to better compete with large brand name competition, and to help the consumer save money while shopping. In the past, consumers had a negative image on generic brand products, and believed that the quality of the products were much worse than those of name brands. Whether they were shopping for food, clothing, electronics, or any consumer good, people believed that generic brands were cheap, and would not do as good of a job as the brand name product.
Today however, companies like walmart and Target are offering high quality generic products, which are of the same, and in some cases, better quality than the name brand product, and the best part is that consumers save a great deal of money when buying generic. The most purchased generic products today are typically in food and household products, such as: paper towels, sodas, garbage bags, sandwich bags, deli products, dairy, and many other goods in stores. Generics have become much more popular, because consumers are finally realizing that, with the way the economy is, they have to save money anyway they can.
Most generic brands on the market today are made by the “Big” brand names, and consumers are finally realizing this. In the past they felt that if they didn’t buy the brand name, the quality in the generic product would be faulty. However, now that more and more consumers are purchasing generics, and seeing the great quality that they offer, generic brands are taking over the marketplace. Although many people are still hesitant to buy generic products today, the market in general is much more willing to accept them, and in many cases will purchase generic over name brand to save money.
